Font - I was a Tool and Die maker by trade then and was working an overtime shift at a Tier 1 supplier automotive stamping plant on a Saturday morning at 6am.
  • 04
Font - Usually if anything is going to wrong it will happen in the first 30 minutes of a press start up since they have to align the coil and get the strip through the die.
  • 05
Font - Once the presses get going then you can start to look at what dies are scheduled to run next and check them accordingly. But if you start to work on a due and a press goes down it will most likely involve packing up whatever you have taken out already and rolling your toolbox to the press. This is why I was waiting 30 minutes before starting any shop work

Font - My Supervisor at the time (We'll call him Rude-e) came into the tool room saw me reading paper and came over and asked what I was doing. I explained to him what I stated above to which he replied " what's next you want me to put a bed upstairs also". I said if he did that I would support him %100 and laughed.
  • 07
Font - I guess he wasn't amused because he said "if you think you are gonna come in on OT and stand around reading the paper for 30 minutes you can go home". Rude-e then stormed off out of the shop.
  • 08
Font - Enter Malicious Compliance, after he left I started locking up my boxes and putting my shoes on. My co-worker on shift asked where I was going?. I told him Rude-e said I could go home.
  • 09
Font - About 20 minutes later Rude-e comes back into the shop looking for me, he asks my co- worker where I was, my co- worker told him that you told him he could go home. He then told my co-worker to come with him and he was stuck at a press for 3 hours alone.

Font - If only he had been patient and trusted my judgement he would have had 2 guys on a press call and not 1.

Font - verminiusrex 15 hr. ago Always listen to the person who actually works the machines. "Why is there a bobblehead on the extruder?" "Because if I put the bobblehead there for the first 45 minutes, it works right. If I don't it gunks up. I don't know why, I just know it works."

Gesture - Kinsfire 11 hr. ago Depends on how it's bobbling - side to side, the machine's working properly. Nodding at me, I'm shutting down or ducking for cover. *laugh*

Font - highinthemountains · 37 min. ago I had a customer who had a tiki statue on their network bench. I don't know who put it there, but for the 20+ years I worked at that site I never touched or moved it after the first time. I had moved it once and the network started having a crap ton of issues. I

Font - moved it back to its original position and things started working right again. Don't ask, I don't know why. I warned the guy who I sold my business to. He laughed and evidently learned the hard way, don't mess with the tiki statue.

Font - HypersonicHobo 3 hr. ago Bro, NASA JPL by tradition has a bowl of nuts for every major event because before every mission failed but one day someone brought nuts and the Ranger 7 probe to the moon succeeded in landing safely. No one questions the bowl of nuts. You can spot it in their life feeds of the control center during major events.

Font - Fit_Organization 9210 12 hr. ago Love it. Had a job once where someone had to work the occasional late night, but we would know in advance. Supervisor informed me and one other coworker at lunch that there was a last minute change and someone needed to work late. If she was a nice person, I woulda been fine with that. But

Font - she was a total wack job, so me and my coworker were like sorry, no can do. So in a huff supervisor says "oh! I guess I will have to stay then" with the snottiest attitude of all time. So I smiled, got up and passive-aggressively said "phew! great! Glad it's taken care of" and left the room to daggers coming from her eyes

Font - He was shocked. He bought me lunch later that week and said he had it coming. My boss laughed. She said she warned him about the operators and not to mess with us.
